Usage Guidelines for Cybozu Trademarks

Kintone®, Garoon®, Cybozu®, as well as Mailwise and Cybozu Office, are the intellectual property of Cybozu Inc. (hereinafter “Cybozu”), and valuable assets that we need to protect. Please follow the following Guidelines when using Cybozu trademarks in all communications, documentation and electronic messages.

Permissible Use

The use of Cybozu trademarks is generally permitted as long as the use is (1) truthful, fair and not misleading and (2) complies with these Guidelines, which may be modified at any time at the sole discretion of Cybozu. For instance, Cybozu trademarks may be used by authorized partners when selling Cybozu products, or by customers in press releases stating they have implemented a Cybozu product.

1. Promotion, advertising and sales materials

The use of Cybozu trademarks for promotion, advertising and sales materials must comply with these Guidelines, as well as any terms specified in any contract between a contracting party and Cybozu.

2. Compatibility with a Cybozu product

Developers working with Cybozu products may use Cybozu trademarks in referential phrases on promotional or advertising materials to describe the compatibility between a third-party product and a Cybozu product. In such cases, compliance with the following requirements must be observed:

  • The Cybozu product name is not part of the third-party product name;
  • A referential phrase explains the relationship between the Cybozu product and the third-party product, such as “compatible with,” “for,” or “available on”;
  • The Cybozu product name is less prominent than the third-party product name;
  • The stated compatibility is truthful, fair and not misleading;
  • The reference to Cybozu does not imply or create a sense of endorsement, sponsorship or untruthful association between the third-party product and Cybozu;
  • The use does not portray Cybozu or its products in a derogatory manner.

3. Publications and live events

Cybozu trademarks may be used in connection with book titles, periodical publications, magazines, seminars, conferences, and other live events as long as the use complies with the following requirements:

  • The use does not reflect negatively on Cybozu, its products or technologies;
  • Unless contrary express written authorization from Cybozu, a disclaimer of sponsorship, affiliation, or endorsement by Cybozu is included on the publication or written material;
  • A trademark attribution notice is included in the credits section of the publication recognizing Cybozu’s ownership of its trademark(s). Please refer to the section below on how to properly attribute Cybozu trademarks.

4. Websites

Non-commercial websites may use Cybozu trademarks, provided they comply with the general guidelines for permissible use, as well as the provisions set forth in Section 3 above.

Prohibited Use

1. Unauthorized sponsorship or affiliation

Unless explicitly authorized as part of a written agreement with Cybozu, Cybozu trademarks may not be used in any manner which would imply the sponsorship, affiliation or endorsement of Cybozu.

2. Disparaging, untruthful or misleading use

Cybozu trademarks, symbols, graphics and logos may not be used in a manner that is disparaging, untruthful, or misleading

3. Company, product, service or domain names

Unless explicitly authorized in writing by Cybozu, do not use Cybozu trademarks in a way that creates a potentially confusing variation in a third-party company, product, service or domain name.

4. Trade dress

Do not imitate the distinctive elements of Cybozu’s website design, product design, logos, or typefaces.

5. Slogans and Taglines

Refrain from using or imitating Cybozu slogans and taglines.

Proper use of Cybozu trademarks

Cybozu trademarks are adjectives used to modify nouns, where the noun is a generic name of a product or service. The generic name may be omitted in titles and headlines, but should otherwise be used, for example “the Kintone platform.” Always correctly spell and capitalize Cybozu trademarks.

Trademark Attribution

Proper attribution helps clarify which products and services belong to Cybozu. In addition to respecting the permissible use guidelines above, we ask that references to Cybozu trademarks be properly attributed by using trademark symbols (™ or SM or ®) and credit lines.

Examples of acceptable credit lines include:

_________ and _______ are registered trademarks of Cybozu Inc.

_________ and _______ are trademarks of Cybozu Inc.
