Yoshihisa Aono

Representative Director & President

I started studying programming when I was fourteen. Although I went on to major in information systems at university, I faced some setbacks in turning my studies into a career and ended up working for a major company instead. Since founding Cybozu, I’ve been focusing on product marketing, as well as creating a flat organization in which people can be themselves. My dream is to get more involved in the operational aspects of cloud computing.

I joined Cybozu in 2004 as part of the company's very first cohort of new graduates hired. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to serve as a product manager, product marketing manager, and SMB market sales manager for Cybozu Office and other products. I'm dedicated to putting my experience in both development and sales to good use in the pursuit and delivery of the best customer experience unique to Cybozu. I’m a proud supporter of Kawasaki Frontale, my hometown's local professional football club, and am often in the stands at their home stadium cheering them on.

I was born in Asago City, Hyogo prefecture, where the ruins of Takeda Castle sit. Between 2002 and 2011, I worked as a systems engineer, after which I began a daily grind as a sales representative, striving to create business with our partners. What I love the most in my work is seeing our customers, partners, and Cybozu members all come together and take part in highly engaging and fertile conversations on Kintone.

I grew up with a soccer ball at my feet, in a picturesque town in the southern part of Osaka. In 2003, after working at a securities company, I joined Cybozu. I’ve mainly worked in the field of sales, including public sales, and as sales manager for the Osaka area. Now, I’m the head of the Sales Division and the Business Strategy Office. These days, I’ve been working day and night to raise Kintone to the status of a globally recognized brand.

I studied mathematical optimization at the Dept. of Industrial Engineering and Management of the Tokyo Institute of Technology before joining Cybozu in 2007. I’m immersed in the development of Kintone and Garoon, as well as in the exploration of new technologies. I also regularly contribute to open-source software development and the developer community. I noticed that to produce the greatest possible software, you need the greatest possible team, so in 2016 I became head of the Development Division. My life has been following a daily pattern of trial and error ever since. Oh, and I love beer and curry.

I majored in information systems at Waseda University’s Faculty of Science and Engineering, before joining Cybozu as a new graduate in 2005. At Cybozu, I’ve been involved in a full gamut of work across the IT infrastructure space, including remote services, Cybozu’s headquarters relocation project, running infrastructure such as Cybozu Live and cybozu.com, and revamping the internal system infrastructure. I’m currently devoting myself to providing the best internal IT environment for everyone, everywhere, everytime.

I was born in Tatsuno city, Hyogo prefecture, home of the famous Japanese children’s song “Red Dragonfly.” After returning to Osaka from Cybozu’s head office in Tokyo, I got to experience the growth of what was originally a meagre base. While taking my time to appreciate the scenery that is my hometown where I spent my childhood, I want to extend Cybozu’s services nationwide in the hopes of making Japan an even better place for everyone.

After graduating from law school, I joined a large energy company. From there I found my way to Cybozu, where I established the legal department. Now, in order to achieve our corporate mission of building a society brimming with teamwork, I’ve been striving to build a platform for people and organizations. I find motivation in my daily life from my interest in sports, as well as finding things in common with diverse people, and seeing them lead a life rich in personal development and teamwork.

Since I was a child, I never liked having to compete with others on the same playing field. I was always better at running off and working to create my own playing field. At Cybozu, I run the "Seedling Nurture Lab," where teams get together to find and nurture small seedlings of social change, in the hope of bringing forth a better future. A future in which, I hope, we will all have a little more space to be our true selves.

During my student days I immersed myself in athletics. My experience at decathlon taught me not to become too absorbed in one particular discipline but focus on accomplishing what can be done. I have put the same mindset to use since joining Cybozu as a new graduate hire in 2009; by combining my main role as a sales engineer with cross-functional initiatives. I am committed, primarily through my technical expertise, to help enhance the value that our customers perceive in our products and services.

I joined Cybozu in 2013, after working at a bank, a recruitment agency, and as a university professor. Thanks to my personal experience with various work cultures and industries, I became in charge of a wide range of planning tasks at Cybozu, from budget management to the launch of new businesses. I’m always excited to see the scope and pace at which the business environment around me is changing. Also, every summer, one of the activities I look forward to the most is getting together with colleagues and organizing a parfait-eating event at a fruit parlor near our headquarters.

I’m a geek. Obviously I love Japanese anime, but I also enjoy tinkering with gadgets and electronic devices. At Cybozu I started by setting up the sales engineering team, then moved on to become a product manager, and eventually joined the development team. Now I’m in charge of sales engineering and engineering marketing. I strongly believe in the importance of challenging oneself and adapting to change.

I began at Cybozu by helping to create Garoon, a groupware solution aimed at making large organizations more productive and efficient. Then, I spearheaded the development of cybozu.com and the establishment of our Information Technology Division. As an architect, I’m very particular when it comes to crafting nice things, and since an organization is also a thing that needs crafting, I’ve been making a foray into management. To remain active and up-to-date as an engineer, I still make a daily effort to unlearn my preconceptions and stay mentally fresh.
