Position Overview

This role, which exists in our New Business Division, is part of a team developing the next generation of Cybozu products for the international and Japanese markets built around our core IAM (Identity and Access Management) software. IAM tools enhance security, streamline user administration, and ensure appropriate access privileges – protecting sensitive information and resources. Features include authentication, user single sign-on, authorization, user directory management, password management, etc.

We're seeking an experienced Senior Product Designer with strategic thinking skills, hands-on design expertise, and strong leadership capability to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have proven successful experience with early-stage development, and thrive in the challenge and ambiguity of 0-1 product design.

As the role of design in the product development process continues to evolve with the advent of AI-assisted tooling, we’re looking for someone enthusiastic to embrace the challenges and possibilities involved. We’re currently integrating AI into our process in a way that is meaningfully beneficial, that supports and validates creative thinking rather than replacing it. 

Position Description

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end design process for product features, from concept to implementation
  • Work with UX Research to conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions
  • Create wireframes and high-fidelity mockups with a deep understanding of product requirements
  • Collaborate with other designers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
  • Facilitate collaborative innovation through workshops with designers, stakeholders, and potential users
  • Use and contribute to our design system, ensuring a cohesive and consistent experience across the application
  • Improve designer workflows by managing shared tools and libraries and creating more efficient processes
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in UX/UI, AI tooling and design craft
Expected Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating complex problem-solving in digital products
  • 5+ years of experience in product design, preferably in B2B SaaS or enterprise software
  • Experience with 0 to 1 software development
  • High level of proficiency in Figma
  • Flexible attitude and willingness to embrace new challenges
  • Passion for learning and ability to positively incorporate feedback from peers
  • Shared understanding and belief in our company’s mission and values
Additional Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience in leading and mentoring designers
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted design tooling
  • Experience in designing for Cybersecurity or IAM products, or for system administrators, IT users
  • Familiarity with web accessibility guidelines and standards, such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Experience with CSS, React, or backend technologies
Work Hours
  • Flexible working hours
  • Core collaboration availability: Tue - Fri: 9am - midday (for crossover with US teammates)
Location
  • Remote / Hybrid / In-Office (Tokyo, Sapporo, Sendai, Nagoya, Osaka, Hiroshima, Matsushima, Naha)
  • The designers go in to our Tokyo office once a week to collaborate and socialize, but it’s not a requirement. We have a fantastic office in Nihonbashi, Tokyo (see photos here)
Salary Range
  • Salary Range(※1):  JPY 9,000,000 – JPY 12,000,000
    • Estimated annual salary:  Base Salary (12 months) + Bonus (Base salary x 1 month x twice a year = 2 months)
    • Monthly salary system:  Base salary is determined based on your skill set, experience, and abilities, etc.
    • An allowance for additional overtime(※2)is included in the base salary. However, work exceeding additional overtime agreed to between the employer and employee will be compensated separately.
      • Base monthly salary(※1):  JPY 640,000 – JPY 860,000
        The base monthly salary breakdown as follows:
        • Base salary:  JPY 487,600 – JPY 655,200
        • Allowance for additional overtime(※2):  JPY 152,400 to JPY 204,800

※Notes:
1. Depending on your skill set and experience, the amount set may be outside the above range.
2. Calculated based on 160 hours of scheduled working hours per month and 40 hours of additional overtime.
